PREVIEW | Horne wants to impress fans

20th January 2018

Richard Horne wants his side to give the Dons fans something to shout about in 2018, ahead of the pre-season friendly with London Broncos this weekend.

Horne is set for his first full season in charge of the club, and thinks the game against the Broncos will be a good marker for where his side are currently at.

“It will be a really good challenge for us, they’re a top level Championship team and will be looking for a repeat of last season when they made the top four,” he said.

“The game can be a big indicator of where we’re at as a group, our goal is to get to the Championship and doing well against London will be a good start.

“Speaking to the coaching staff we’re keeping our options open, there are positions to play for in key areas for us so performances in these games will determine who gets the nod.”

Horne is looking for signs that the work being done in training is paying off, with less than a month to go until the start of the League One season.

“We’re focusing on the finer details of our play this weekend, looking for signs that the lads have listened to what we expect from them in certain parts of the game,” he added.

“I think we struggled to find good field position last season so we need to be better at grinding teams down, territory is always going to be key and with the players we’ve brought in we’ll look to improve.

“The fans have come out in numbers and bought season tickets, now it’s down to us to put on some good performances for them and put some points on the board.”
