Richard Horne believes the Dons can become a real force in Kingstone Press League One if they can be more consistent throughout games.

Horne’s side have lost two and won one of their opening three Super 8 games, and he says they must do the simple things better if they are to climb the table.

“We’re looking for a more complete performance this week, we’re playing against another physical side who are dangerous when they’ve got the ball,” he said.

“We want to cut out our basic errors, our training has been focusing on fixing that up so hopefully we’ll see the benefits of that at the weekend.

“It’s all about making progress on what we’ve come up with in the past couple of weeks, our line speed has been good and we’re working on improving that further.”

Workington are the Dons opponents this weekend and Horne is expecting his forward pack to be on the top of their game as they prepare for another physical test.

“All we can do is make sure that we start strongly, we don’t want to be chasing the game as that’s when our play can start to become a bit scrappy,” he added.

“We want to keep climbing the table and a win against Workington will put us on course to do that, we don’t want to rely on other results.

“Our fitness levels are good within the group, they’re all in good shape and I think we’ve shown that against the Cumbrian teams with the way we’ve finished games.”
